Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for a Tumuaki Taupuni - Head of Hall in Te Kopanga - University Accommodation Wellington team, on a permanent, full-time basis.

Te Kopanga - University Accommodation Wellington is responsible for the development and implementation of the University’s student accommodation. We are looking for a Tumuaki Taupuni - Head of Hall for a Hall that services a diverse group of young adults, including Māori and Pasifika, and international students.

Key responsibilities:

  • Champion community engagement and culture within the Hall and as part of the wider Hall community and University.
  • Lead a team to provide a high quality and safe residential experience for students.
  • Work with students to plan for their academic and personal wellbeing success.
  • Ensure team training and development and be part of the training programme for staff across all Halls.
  • Ensure budgets are met or exceeded, and maintenance requirements are met.
  • Share on-call duties after hours with the Deputy Head of Hall.

Ō pūmanawa - About you

You will:

  • Have experience working with young people, managing staff, as well as effectively managing financial and administrative systems.
  • Ensure that the residences are appropriately maintained to the required safety and wellbeing requirements of the University, and the budget is well managed.
  • Have a proven understanding of the duty of pastoral care.
  • Have experience supporting student academic success and personal growth.
  • Have experience as a first-responder for critical incidents and of risk management in a welfare context.
